Mio shows its split personality
- A new way to travel -
Ever driven past something because you didn't know it was coming up? Missed out on seeing
something altogether because you didn't even know it was there?
Those days are gone with the development of the world's first split screen mobile in-car GPS device, the Mio
DigiWalker™ C520. The split screen not only acts like a traditional GPS system letting you know the exact
directions to your ultimate destination, but it also enables you to look at a list of upcoming service stations, rest
stops and cafes.
Better still, the C520 screen boasts the new Mio widescreen – at 4.3 inches wide it's 30 per cent larger than its
predecessor, the C510. The screen can be split 70/30 – with the largest view dedicated to your navigation map
while the other 30 per cent displays additional information about upcoming attractions.
The C520's map is preloaded with Sensis® R14 2007 mapping which incorporates over 500,000 points of
interest (POI). Additionally, audio and photo files can be uploaded on to the unit.
"As the form and function of GPS continues to evolve, widescreen is fast becoming a priority for the GPS
consumer," said Peter Ferrigno, national sales manager for Mio Australia. "In addition to the widescreen, the
C520 incorporates the split screen option to enable consumers the flexibility of accessing other features while
maintaining the navigational map on display."
The C520 enhances the GPS experience with more than visual appeal. Generic driving instructions in the form
of "right turn in one kilometre" are a thing of the past with the C520. Instead the C520 uses text to speech
technology – the driver is given clear, concise prompts, citing the actual street name such as "right turn into
Main Street", making it easier than ever for drivers to keep eyes on the road.
Wireless technology is utilised in the C520 by offering a wide range of Bluetooth® options. The device is
compatible with a variety of Bluetooth® capable mobile phones and can synchronise with Bluetooth®-enabled
car stereo systems to enjoy the GPS' music library through the car's speaker system.
