A Greener Mio

Over the years our devices have become on average 32% thinner. Whilst this is partly due to improved manufacturing techniques and technologies, it is also a concerted effort to reduce the amount of materials that are used and therefore the number of products we can fit in a container. These efforts save energy and transport costs and therefore waste.

Since Mio’s conception in 2003 the size of the average packing box has been reduced in volume by 67%. This means that our boxes now: take up less space in landfills, recycling plants and bins around the world; reduce energy consumption during manufacture and maximize transportation usage.

  1. Weight reduction by an average of 70% per product therefore reducing delivery costs
  2. Creating a saving of 482.9 tonnes of PC/ ABS plastic

  1. Reduces electricity consumption by 16,800 hours / year (3 hrs / day)
  2. Reduces CO2 emissions by 10.72 tonnes year
  3. Save up to 32.5% of electricity

Smaller accessories are saving over 97 tonnes of CO2 a year

The windshield mount is an essential accessory that has shipped with all in car portable navigation devices since 2006. Over the last two years it has reduced in size:

thereby reducing the amount of packaging required and plastic used. Many of our accessories are made from PC /ABS and are therefore 100% recyclable.
