Mio C230 Car Navigation System Wins Prestigious iF Design Award
Leading the way in innovative industrial design for personal navigation devices
A leading maker of personal navigation devices, Mio Technology Corporation, announces today that its C230 car navigation system has been awarded the prestigious 2008 iF Design Award in the Audio/Video category.
Featuring elegantly rounded contours and a clean gray exterior, the Mio C230 is a stylishly minimalist personal navigation device designed for entry-level users. The C230’s exterior is free from unsightly knobs and buttons, which allows it to blend in nicely with a user’s car interior and not overpowering other built-in dash indicators. With its 3.5” screen, thin profile and lightweight design, the C230 is also perfect for pedestrian navigation, fitting easily into a back pocket or handbag.
Since 2006, Mio products have been recognized internationally for their innovative product designs. They include the Mio H610 handheld navigation system (2006 iF Design Award China & 2007 Business 2.0 Bottom Line winner), P560 PDA navigation system (2007 iF Design Award China winner) and the A702 GPS PDA Phone (2007 iF Design Award China winner).

About iF Design Awards
As one of the world’s oldest design competitions, the iF product design award can look back on a rich, long tradition. This seal of fine design quality, in the shape of a square, red logo with its distinctive lettering, has stood for qualitatively outstanding design awards for over 50 years. Last year a jury of specialists evaluated 2,292 entries from 35 different nations, the best of which were selected for an award and publicized internationally. And in 2008 this awards contest is again dedicated to promoting awareness of the significance of excellent design, as well as to providing corporations with an opportunity to go up directly against the competition and the interested public with a platform for fine design. This is because the by now 14 categories in the iF product design award give you an idea of the complexity of contemporary design and the broad spectrum it covers. All prizewinners can be proud of their design achievements and can communicate them in their press and PR work as well as their marketing campaigns. Each winner receives a coveted iF certificate, which retains its validity for the entire product lifecycle.
