  • Mio / Navman – First New Products, Innovative New Services and a New Corporate Identity
    3/4/2008
Mio Technology Corporation, a leading global supplier of personal GPS navigation, today chose the annual CeBIT technology trade show to demonstrate its ambition to become the leading player in the handheld GPS market. Following the merger with Navman in 2007, the CeBIT show represents a major landmark for the company with the launch of its first integrated products, the Mio Moov range, a new corporate identity and an innovative content and services package, MioMoreTM, which includes a European first in GPS local search services.

“The merger of the Mio and Navman brands is already delivering value and innovation to both customers and retail partners. It’s no longer enough to simply provide a great A to B navigation experience, the next generation of GPS devices must also deliver value added services that provide greater insight into the local environment including shops, facilities and traffic events,” said Ben Perrin, Vice President Marketing, Mio. “Mio customers and retail partners are already benefiting from new products and services, increased sales support, greater marketing resources and enhanced customer support services. As we continue to drive benefits from the integration of Navman, the new Mio is going from strength to strength and will provide a significant challenge to the current leaders in the GPS product market.”

To create a unified and consistent global brand image Mio has developed a new corporate logo and tagline - Explore More – which embodies the principle of helping customers to explore more with their GPS  devices with  innovative new content and services, such as MioMoreTM. The tagline also echoes the new organisation’s commitment to exploring the value of new GPS technologies, devices and services for customers. A commitment highlighted by new content services and future concept products, being showcased alongside the new Moov range at CeBIT.

With Mio’s innovative new content and services package, MioMoreTM, the Moov range will be the first GPS devices in Europe to include a dynamic local search feature for finding points of interest such as shops, restaurants, businesses and amenities. The Local Search technology is powered via leading online local directory search partners across Europe and enables the devices to search the most comprehensive databases available for specific local amenities via a Bluetooth connection to a mobile phone.

Highlighting the synergy between the two companies, the new Moov range brings together the best features from the current Mio and Navman ranges to deliver a superb navigation experience for customers. The devices include Mio 3D mapping of over 1,000 City landmarks, address entry and route choice is powered by Navman’s simple-to-use and intuitive software while NavPix photo navigation allows users to navigate by geo-tagged pictures.

The Moov range is also the first to feature SiRF’s new InstantFixII technology as standard. This predicts where GPS satellites will be on power up so a fix can be achieved in as little as five seconds and users can begin navigating as soon as they’re ready to drive.

Mio will be demonstrating the latest range of innovation products at the 2008 CeBIT technology trade show in Hannover (4-9 March 2008 - Hall 14, Stand G08).
